AI fitting room
An AI fitting room is a virtual fitting room whose renders are produced by a generative model rather than by overlaying cut-out images. The term signals the method: garments are re-drawn on the body, so fabric, shadow and proportion respond to the person wearing them.
The label is used loosely in the market, so it is worth checking what sits behind it. A genuine generative pipeline synthesises the garment region of the image; an overlay pipeline moves existing pixels. Both get marketed as AI, and only one of them produces fabric that reacts to a pose.
The practical test takes seconds: look for a shadow the garment casts on the body, and for folds that appear where the body bends. A cut-out cannot produce either, because both would have to be invented rather than copied from the product photograph.
