2D overlay try-on

2D overlay try-on places a cut-out of the garment image over a photograph of a person, stretching it to match a few detected body points. The garment keeps the shape it had in the studio, which is why overlays suit rigid items like glasses and struggle with anything that drapes.

The pipeline is three steps: segment the garment out of the product shot, estimate keypoints on the target body, then warp the cut-out so its anchor points land on the body’s. Nothing in that sequence understands fabric, so nothing about the fabric changes.

That produces the characteristic sticker look. Studio shadows travel with the cut-out, the garment cannot fall behind an arm or gather at a waistband, and layering two overlaid items rarely survives inspection. For eyewear, watches and some headwear the geometry barely changes and an overlay is perfectly adequate.
