Pose estimation

Pose estimation is the computer-vision step that locates a person’s joints and body landmarks in an image — shoulders, elbows, hips, knees. Try-on systems use the resulting skeleton to know where a garment should sit and how the body is oriented before anything is rendered.

In an overlay pipeline the skeleton is the whole mechanism: keypoints determine where the garment cut-out is anchored and how it is stretched. In a generative pipeline it is one conditioning signal among several, telling the model what the body is doing so the synthesised garment agrees with it.

Pose estimation is also where unusual inputs fail first. Crossed arms, heavy foreshortening, a seated pose or a cropped photograph all degrade the skeleton, and everything downstream inherits that error — which is why try-on tools ask for a straightforward full-body shot.
